What is the Portuguese rental license - Licença de
Alojamento Local?
The Portuguese rental license Alojamento Local is a permit issued by the town hall which certifies that the property meets the legal standard in respect of safety, comfort and hygiene.
The new rental law in Portugal was passed in 2008 that villas and apartments which offer temporary lodging to paying guests will be considered as Local Lodging Establishments and must be licensed as such.
